“Innocence”
In this miniature, the painting embodies the idea that all its elements, when considered individually, interact with each other and form a unified picture of wholeness. The world depicted in the painting is initially empty and only acquires form over time. The tree, symbolizing aspiration and youth, conveys the idea that to truly understand the beauty of a blossoming tree, one must know and see the roots hidden within the earth. This prompts contemplation about how true beauty can be incomplete and inadequate without knowledge and understanding of its origins.
The naked figure in the painting, covering themselves with their hands, symbolizes the fear of accepting oneself as they are and remaining incomplete and vulnerable in their inner world. This represents a refusal to accept oneself and the engagement in irrational actions to conceal one’s imperfections.
The imagery of “Excrement” serves as an apt description of the dirt we carry into the real world and the lack of cessation. This can be interpreted as a critique of the negative impact we have on the environment and our inner world through our actions.
